TV Watch by NHJ Japan, Model VTV-201
![]() (PAL Version - For use in the UK and Europe) There has never been a better time to be a TV freak, because new technology is improving our viewing pleasure at an astonishing rate. But whilst the plasmas, LCDs and digiboxes of this world are all well and good, they're not much use when you're out, about and away from your favourite armchair. And that is where the astonishing TV Wristwatch comes in. ![]() You've probably seen similar gizmos in sci-fi movies and Bond films, but this particularly chic televisual timepiece is the first one that really cuts the mustard in terms of convenience, price and picture quality. Plus you don't need arms like Arnie to wear the thing. The secret to the TV watch's unparalleled brilliance is its 1.5" colour screen, which relies on TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology to deliver a high-resolution (130,338) picture that is superior to anything traditional televisions can offer. Just think, with this little box of tricks strapped to your wrist you'll never again miss your favourite terrestrial TV shows when you're out and about. Whether it's The Bill up a hill, the news in the loos, The Office in your office, or the big game on a slow train, you won't miss a single pixel of the action. The TV Wristwatch is powered by a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery which provides an hour of viewing time (that's two standard soaps or a footie first half plus banter), but you can extend this to 3 hours by placing the watch on its smart little battery-powered docking station. For unlimited viewing time (and to charge the watch) simply plug the docking station into the mains. ![]() Of course it couldn't really be described as a watch if it didn't tell the time, so there's a digital display that shows the time, date and selected channel. This wrist-mounted masterpiece is a doddle to operate and you won't have to faff around with clumsy dials or telescopic aerials, because a SONY PLL synthesizer tuner allows for quick channel hopping and nifty earphones double up as the TV Wristwatch's antenna. We really can't overstate the convenience of owning a telly that can be strapped to your wrist. Indeed, if casually rolling up your shirtsleeve to watch pivotal Match of the Day moments or I'm a Celeb evictions doesn't win big points in the battle of gadget one-upmanship, nothing will. History : The only other TV watch ever to be released was by Seiko between 1982 and 1985 (pictured below) as used in the James Bond film Octopussy. However, due to the fact that a huge receiver box also had to be carried it was never a huge success. ![]() The VTV-201 changes all this - No more bulk. There is no receiver box to carry, everything is now self contained within the watch itself. Classification Item Rating
